POLICIES

Each suite has an overnight guest limit as described above, unless special arrangements are made in advance with management. All bed linens, towels and kitchen equipment are included in the rental fee. A list of most of our amenities is featured elsewhere on this website. Please contact us with questions about special needs. No smoking is allowed inside the facilities. A signed rental agreement and pool rules are required to complete the rental process.

RESERVATIONS

To make a reservation please call us at 808.895.2203 or Toll free 877.324.6444 between 8am and 8pm Hawaii Time Zone. We want to know about your rental needs and we can check on availability for your rental dates. Rental forms will be e-mailed (or mailed) to complete and return.
Reservations are not confirmed until the required deposit has been received.

PAYMENTS

Payment of rental fees may be made in the form of checks and money orders issued in U.S. funds as well as credit cards via Paypal (a 3% fee applies when booking by credit card). A payment of 50% of the total rental fee (rent, damage deposit, cleaning and tax) is due at the time of booking in order to hold the reservation. The remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to the rental period. For example, for a total rental fee of $4000, $2000 is due at the time of making a reservation. The remaining $2000 is due 30 days prior to your arrival.
If your rental date is less than 30 days after making the booking, then the total rental fee, tax and damage deposit is due immediately.

Note: State of Hawaii General Excise and Transit Accommodation Tax of 12.42% is added to all rental fees.

DAMAGE/LOSS DEPOSIT

A security/damage/loss fee equal to the daily rental rate is required in addition to the standard rental fee. This is to hold the reservation and to cover any property damage or loss. It is due at the time of booking in order to hold the reservation and is refundable if there is no excessive damage or cleaning.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

Cancellations more than 60 days prior to check-in will incur a $50 penalty; the remainder of the initial deposit is fully refundable. There will be no refund of any collected deposits or rental fees for cancellations within 60 days unless the space can be rebooked in which case a $50 service fee will be charged and the remainder collected will be refunded.

LIABILITY

Renters accept all responsibility for their safety and the safety of their children, and agree not to hold owners or staff of The Kona Sugar Shack liable for accidents, injuries, illnesses, or issues incurred in relation with the use of facilities. All renters are required to sign a Hold Harmless Agreement prior to rental. Renter is responsible for ensuring that signed forms are received by owners prior to rental commencement.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT

Rental period begins at 3:00PM and ends at 10:30AM. This allows the Kona Sugar Shack Staff time to prepare for the next rental. Depending on availability, it may be possible to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs. The fee for either is one-half of the daily rental rate. Please contact us a few days prior to your arrival to coordinate your check-in and out times. Upon arrival, a walk through will take place with explanations and details about the property. For late arrivals, the walk through will take place the following morning.

CLEANING

At check-out the Sugar Shack staff is responsible for house cleaning and washing the bed linens and towels. But upon departure the house should be returned in the same condition in which it was rented. If time permits, the staff would be grateful if the beds are stripped and one or more loads of towels begun.
